The FISEC Games

History of FISEC Games

FISEC (Fédération Internationale Sportive de l’Enseignement Catholique) was founded in 1948 to promote the importance of physical activity and sport in the physical, human, and Christian education of young people, particularly within Catholic education.

It was initiated in 1946 by representatives from France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, with the official establishment taking place in Brussels in January 1948. The first FISEC Games were held in Monte-Carlo in 1948.

Over the years, more countries joined, girls’ Games were introduced in 1959, and mixed Games began in 1980. Since 1998, FISEC has continued with Summer Games only. The organization has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee since 1995.

Since 2011, FISEC has collaborated with FICEP, officially formalizing their partnership in 2017 to jointly organize international Games.
